Tunnel Cats 09/07/2011
These students were selected to represent our class this Friday night at our 1st home football game! They will be our Tunnel Cats! Way to go friends! 1 Comment R.I.P. 08/31/2011
Today we put to rest a good friend... "I Can't". Students all thought about something that was hard for them (at school, home, sports). They then had to write it down and "bury" it in our casket. We talked about not digging those things back out but to work on thinking "I Can". At any time in the year, students that are struggling or having a hard time can write it down and "bury" it. Getting to Know You 08/23/2011
Today we did a few more "Getting to Know You" activities! The kids LOVED throwing the squishy ball at the SMARTboard. We've also been talking about the Essential 55 each day to help on work on our manners and etiquette! Please encourage your child to use these in public and at home as well! Our 1st Day of 2nd Grade 08/22/2011
It amazes me that even though this is the start of my 11th year, I am still NERVOUS and ANXIOUS about the first day of school! I'm pretty sure that every student came in with at least a grin and there were NO tears! Yahhh! The day went really fast and I even have to admit that it was a little boring! LOL The first day always seems that way because we go over rules and procedures and put up all the supplies. But before the day was over we played "Toliet Paper Talk". I passed around a roll of toliet paper and told the students to tear off as much as they thought they needed. I wouldn't give them any other information. You should have seen the looks and heard the comments they had!! After everyone had some toliet paper I told them they were to count the number of squares they had torn off . For each square the student had to tell a fact about themselves! Their facial expressions were hilarious! I would say that our 1st day of 2nd grade was successful. Meet the Teacher 08/13/2011
A big thank you to all those parents and students who attended Meet the Teacher! It was a pleasure to meet all of you. I was amazed at the turn out! I'm looking forward to an awesome and exciting new school year!
