It amazes me that even though this is the start of my 11th year, I am still NERVOUS and ANXIOUS about the first day of school! I'm pretty sure that every student came in with at least a grin and there were NO tears! Yahhh! The day went really fast and I even have to admit that it was a little boring! LOL The first day always seems that way because we go over rules and procedures and put up all the supplies.  But before the day was over we played "Toliet Paper Talk".   I passed around a roll of toliet paper and told the students to tear off as much as they thought they needed.  I wouldn't give them any other information. You should have seen the looks and heard the comments they had!! After everyone had  some toliet  paper I told them they were to count the number of squares they had torn off . For each square the student had to tell a fact about themselves! Their facial expressions were hilarious!  I would say that our 1st day of 2nd grade was successful.
